Registered Provisional Psychologist, Doctoral Resident
Abdullah Bernier holds a Master of Science in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary and is currently completing his doctoral training. His research focuses on the intersection between autism and trauma in adults, reflecting his commitment to understanding and supporting individuals with diverse needs. Clinically, Abdullah’s interests lie at the crossroads of trauma, autism, ADHD, and complex mental health presentations. While his primary therapeutic foundation is rooted in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), he incorporates other approaches to support each client’s unique needs and goals. He is also continuing to build his skills in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Abdullah has experience conducting cognitive, psychoeducational, autism, social-emotional, and complex mental health assessments, which informs his approach to both assessment and intervention. Guided by a strength-based, culturally responsive, and client-centered approach, he combines evidence-based practices with attention to each person’s experiences, supporting clients and families as they build resilience and work toward positive change.
