Dr. Lawrence Deck is the Chief Clinical Officer at Wayfound and has been practicing as a psychologist since 2009. He earned his Master’s degree in Counselling from California State University, Fresno, and subsequently completed his Ph.D. in Psychology with a forensic specialization at Walden University (Minneapolis, MN).

Dr. Deck is registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and is a member of both the Canadian Psychological Association and the National Association of Forensic Counselors. His clinical interests include working with public service personnel, with a particular focus on occupational stress injuries, trauma, and anger-related concerns. He also enjoys working with youth involved in high-level athletics and those experiencing behavioural difficulties.

Dr. Deck’s therapeutic approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and he is also well trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and solution-focused interventions. In addition to individual therapy, he has extensive experience conducting a wide range of assessments, including cognitive, social-emotional, capacity, risk (sexual and violent), and comprehensive psychological evaluations.

Dr. Deck has been formally recognized by the Alberta Provincial Court as an expert in risk assessment and psychometrics. His doctoral research focused on violence and aggression, and he has specialized training in working with individuals who have committed sexual offences.
